A Loft can give you space you didn't even know you had!

 A loft can give you not only extra room, it can be a very fun space. My kids used our first loft as if it was a fort. It was like the indoor tree house everyone wanted to hang out in. We will post several loft ideas here. A loft is located in the normal attic space of the house. Sometimes one must build a dormer to acquire headroom and to allow for a window or two. Remember, if you are going to use the loft for sleeping, you must have a window large enough for egress. Basically large enough for a fireman to get in and out. This will be noted by your local building and safety with specifications for egress.

Your loft is not considered a second story and this will make a difference to building and safety and a large difference in permit and construction costs.
